Ten Ways to Fall in Love with Koh Kood

There’s a version of Koh Kood that most visitors never see, the one beneath the surface of the water, tucked behind a waterfall, or waiting quietly on an island where the deer outnumber the people. At Tolani Resort Koh Kood, getting there is part of the stay. Here’s what a few days on the island can look like.

Chase the clearest water in the Gulf

Some mornings start with a boat ride and end with your face in the water. Snorkeling at Koh Rang, part of Thailand’s protected marine park, is as close as this coast gets to aquarium-clear, reef fish, hard coral, and visibility that makes you forget you’re holding your breath. Join a shared speed boat (from THB 2,000/person) or take a private boat for the day (from THB 10,000, up to 6 people), out every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Closer to shore, Koh Raet offers the same turquoise water on a smaller scale, ideal for a half-day escape, with shared tours from just THB 999/person, or a private mini speed boat for two from THB 2,500.

Go under, properly

For guests who want to stay down longer, the resort’s PADI Diving Experience turns a morning boat trip into a certification. Try diving for the first time with Discover Scuba (THB 4,500), or commit to a 4-day Open Water or Advanced Diver course (THB 15,500), instructor, full equipment, and PADI certification included.

Already certified? The PADI Scuba Diving Program takes you out to Koh Kood’s own reefs (from THB 4,000/person) or further out to Koh Rang’s marine park (from THB 7,000/person), with extra dives available at THB 2,000 each.

Meet Koh Kood’s other residents

A short private boat ride away, Koh Kadad Island is home to nearly 1,000 rare deer, a population found almost nowhere else in Thailand. Explore by safari ride and watch them roam freely between the palms (private tour, THB 10,000/boat, up to 6 people).

Cast a line as the sun goes down

Koh Kood’s waters have always fed on more than tourists, the island’s fishing tradition runs deep, and the Private Fishing by Local Boat experience lets you take part in it. Choose a relaxed morning of fishing and snorkeling aboard a traditional wooden boat (THB 1,800/person), a private mini speed boat trip (THB 3,000/boat), or head out after dark for night fishing under the stars (THB 3,500/boat).

Discover the island by land

Not every adventure needs a boat and a mask. The Private Koh Kood Discovery (Land Tour) winds through Ao Salad fishing village, past the mangroves and beach at Khlong Chao, and ends with a swim in the freshwater lagoon at Klong Chao Waterfall, most spectacular in the rainy season (from THB 1,500/boat, 3.5-hour tour).

Train like a fighter, right on the sand

As the sun drops toward the horizon, the beach becomes a ring. The Thai Boxing Experience puts you one-on-one with a local trainer for an authentic muay thai session, group classes from THB 200/person for resort guests, or book a private session on request.

End the day the way it should end

Some evenings call for nothing more than good company and a good view. The Golden Hour Private Cruise aboard Tolani Posh takes two people out onto the water at sunset, with canapés and sparkling wine, for a private, unhurried close to the day (THB 4,500++ for two).

Ten experiences, one island, and a resort built to get you to all of them. Speak to our activities desk to build your own itinerary, or simply ask what the tide, the weather, and the season recommend today.

Sawaddi Patong Resort & Spa by Tolani Recognised for Sustainable Tourism, Safety & Environmental Responsibility

At Sawaddi Patong Resort & Spa by Tolani, we believe that a memorable stay is about more than comfort. It is also about creating a positive impact on the environment, supporting the local community, and providing guests with a safe and trusted experience.

We are proud to be recognised through three initiatives supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT): CF-Hotels (Carbon Footprint Hotels), Trusted Thailand, and STGs STAR (Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating).

These recognitions reflect our ongoing commitment to responsible hospitality and to contributing to the future of sustainable tourism in Phuket and Thailand.

CF-Hotels: Supporting More Responsible Hotel Operations

The CF-Hotels (Carbon Footprint Hotels) platform was developed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to help hotels and accommodation businesses collect and assess environmental data, including energy and water consumption, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions. The information can be used to better understand a property’s environmental impact and identify opportunities for more efficient resource management.

For Sawaddi Patong Resort & Spa by Tolani, being part of the CF-Hotels initiative represents an important step towards understanding and improving our environmental performance.

By paying closer attention to the resources used throughout hotel operations, we can work towards more responsible practices while maintaining the comfort and quality our guests expect.

Trusted Thailand: Creating Confidence for Every Stay

A safe and comfortable stay is an essential part of a positive travel experience.

The Trusted Thailand initiative, introduced by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in collaboration with tourism partners, aims to strengthen confidence in Thailand’s tourism businesses by promoting standards related to safety, service, communication and accessibility.

The programme assesses participating establishments across key areas including general safety measures, secure payment practices, foreign-language communication, and safe access and connectivity.

At Sawaddi Patong Resort & Spa by Tolani, this recognition reinforces our commitment to creating an environment where guests can feel confident, comfortable and well cared for throughout their stay in Phuket.

STGs STAR: A Commitment to Sustainable Tourism

The STGs STAR (Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating) is a sustainability initiative developed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to encourage tourism businesses to adopt responsible and sustainable practices.

The framework is based on Thailand’s 17 Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs), which are adapted to the country’s tourism context and cover four key dimensions: good governance, socio-economic development, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility.

These areas include:

Environmental Responsibility

Reducing the environmental impact of tourism through responsible resource use, environmental conservation, clean energy and waste management.

Social & Economic Responsibility

Supporting local communities, promoting fair distribution of tourism benefits, and contributing to wellbeing and quality of life.

Cultural Preservation

Respecting and helping preserve local culture, traditions, heritage and knowledge as an important part of Thailand’s tourism identity.

Good Governance

Encouraging transparent, responsible and fair management practices across the tourism industry.

Through the STGs STAR framework, sustainability becomes more than an environmental commitment. It represents a broader approach to creating positive value for people, communities, culture and the environment.

A More Responsible Way to Welcome You

These three recognitions — CF-Hotels, Trusted Thailand and STGs STAR — represent different aspects of our commitment to responsible hospitality.

From understanding our environmental footprint and using resources more responsibly, to maintaining standards that support guest confidence and contributing to sustainable tourism, we continue to look for meaningful ways to improve.

Located in the heart of Patong, Phuket, Sawaddi Patong Resort & Spa by Tolani welcomes travellers to enjoy the energy of Phuket while staying at a hotel that is committed to a more thoughtful approach to hospitality.

For us, sustainability is an ongoing journey, one that allows us to create better experiences for our guests while contributing to a better future for Phuket and Thailand.
